Award-winning Maryland singer-songwriter Laura Brino returns with her tenth studio album, The Other Side, a collection of songs exploring resilience, heartbreak, female empowerment, community, and hope. Inspired by life's most transformative moments, the album traces a journey from uncertainty toward healing and survival.
Featuring collaborations with Meg Murray, Carly Winter, Madisun Bailey, Betsy Tetenman, Cameron Mae, Danah Denice and Daphne Eckman, The Other Side showcases Brino's growth as both a songwriter and collaborator. The album's songs range from intimate acoustic reflections to cinematic indie folk-pop arrangements, united by a common thread of honesty and emotional depth.

Laura Brino is an award-winning indie folk-pop singer-songwriter, educator, and community builder based in Annapolis, Maryland. Over the course of a career spanning more than two decades, she has established herself as a respected voice in the regional and national singer-songwriter community, earning recognition for her emotionally honest lyrics, captivating performances, and commitment to fostering connection through music.
A recipient of the 2026 Bernard/Ebb Songwriter Award, Brino has released ten albums that weave together elements of indie folk, Americana, and contemporary singer-songwriter traditions. Her music has been featured in film and television, and her songs explore themes of resilience, identity, grief, healing, love, friendship, and hope. Influenced by artists such as Brandi Carlile, Patty Griffin, Phoebe Bridgers, Sara Bareilles, and the storytelling of Taylor Swift's Folklore and Evermore eras, Brino's work is characterized by rich narratives, memorable melodies, and a willingness to embrace vulnerability.
Throughout her career, Brino has balanced her work as a performer with a deep commitment to community-building. She is a founder of Songbird Collective, an organization dedicated to supporting women and nonbinary artists through performance opportunities, networking, mentorship, and collaboration. What began as a grassroots effort has grown into a vibrant artistic community that includes concerts, showcases, workshops, and the annual Songbird Festival.
Brino's collaborative spirit extends beyond her organizational work. She performs with Friends and Folklore, an acclaimed touring collective featuring Meg Murray, Carly Winter, and Madisun Bailey; Caprarian, a songwriting and recording partnership with Carly Winter; and Sisiwitch, an original Americana trio. She is also one half of Lily and the Pearl, a project with her husband Sean Jackson that earned a licensing deal through Deep Elm Records and introduced their music to audiences through film and television placements.
Her tenth album, The Other Side, marks a significant milestone in her artistic journey. Inspired by life's most transformative experiences, the album traces a path through grief, heartbreak, depression, resilience, female empowerment, friendship, and ultimately hope. What began as a collection of songs about loss evolved into something much larger: a record about survival and the decision to keep moving forward even when life has been irrevocably changed.
Beyond music, Brino is also a visual artist and educator. Whether teaching, organizing community events, mentoring artists, or performing on stage, she remains committed to creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and connected.
At its core, Laura Brino's work is about storytelling and finding meaning in life's most difficult moments by transforming those experiences into songs that help others feel a little less alone.

"...her songs are the warm coffee on a rainy day. Or the oh-so-sought-after light at the end of the tunnel in the world of folk music. She maintains her femininity without being too demanding about it. Her beauty in her words is just as important as her folk music stamina that is very important this day and age..." -FensePost
