Album Notes

Bona Dea, Laura Brino’s new holiday collection, offers eight original songs that speak to the real heart of the season: ritual, grief, joy, and the small miracles found in everyday family life. Inspired by the ancient Roman goddess of healing and women’s rites, the title track centers the collection’s quietly defiant and tender voice.

Across the record, Brino explores motherhood (Through Your Eyes), loneliness (Unmerry), pandemic adaptation (This Christmas), and hopeful reflection (A Good Year), blending acoustic warmth with subtle modern production. Two songs — Through Your Eyes and A Good Year — have music videos available. Three tracks were previously released as singles and have been fully remastered for this release.

Bona Dea is an intimate, honest companion for the season — made for quiet mornings, late-night wrapping sessions, and the complicated feelings that the holidays bring.

Artist Bio

Laura Brino is an indie folk-pop singer-songwriter based in Annapolis, Maryland, whose music lives in the space where vulnerability meets resilience—blending the warmth of folk, the drive of rock, and the shimmer of pop. Writing songs since her teens in the late ’90s, Laura has long used music as a way to process, connect, and heal. Her heartfelt lyrics, catchy refrains, and breathy vocal delivery have led to features in numerous television shows and films, and praise for her “superb original songs” and authentic storytelling.

She has released five solo albums, along with Lily and the Pearl, a collaborative project with her husband and creative partner, Sean “Dracula” Jackson. Over the years, Laura has captivated audiences at venues like Rams Head On Stage, World Cafe Live, Jammin Java, Rockwood Music Hall, and The Bitter End—filling rooms with both laughter and tears.

Her sixth album, Cactus Moon (2024), is a deeply personal project that explores themes of motherhood, trauma, and healing after a decade-long hiatus. That same year, she released Cactus Moon Rising, a heartfelt documentary chronicling the album’s creation and the near-death experience she endured during the birth of her second daughter. Blending behind-the-scenes footage with 13 original music videos, the film offers an intimate look into her artistic and emotional rebirth.

In 2025, Laura was honored as a finalist in the Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards—a moment that celebrated not just her craft, but the emotional honesty at the heart of her songwriting. She released a surprise album Empty Room Sessions in November 2025 - an intimate collection of songs recorded at home with just vocals and acoustic guitar. Laura followed that release with Bona Dea - her holiday album that honors mythology, motherhood, loneliness and nostalgia during the holidays. She is currently working on a new album set for release in 2026.

Beyond her own music, Laura is a founder of the Songbird Collective, a community that uplifts women and non-binary artists through mentorship, connection, and performance opportunities—away from the toxicity that too often defines the music industry. Her work, both on and off stage, is rooted in empathy, empowerment, and the belief that there’s strength in radical authenticity.
